Stefan Gorski (or "Steve")

I am a software engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit. For the last 12 years, I have been writing code to build products - some of which became real businesses.

Outside of coding, I love to surf, eat pizza/sushi, and travel.

Scroll through some of my best projects below!

Built the world's only job board that autofills your job applications.

  • Built an entire job board from scratch.
  • Built a scraper that scrapes tens of thousands of companies websites for job postings.
  • Built tech to allow users to auto-apply to jobs.

Tech Used: AWS Lambda, AWS S3, Postgres, Node.js, Python, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.

Soterra Women's Safety XPRIZE

Developed a product for women's safety that was a finalist at the United Nations in NYC.

  • Served as a technical lead to help design the entire product and organize team members.
  • Built an iOS and Android app with Bluetooth functionality to connect to our safety device.
  • Built an API and safety alert management systems.

Tech Used: RedBear BLE, React Native, Java, Python, Flask, Twilio, etc.

Showdown Esports

Built a service that would let video game players compete against each other for in-game items.

  • Players would trade their items for "credits" that they could then use to bet on their in-game abilities.
  • For a real life example, imagine challenging your friend to a 1v1 game of basketball for $20. Instead of basketball, it was a video game, and instead of cash, it was credits that could be redeemed for virtual items.
  • The platform handled all of the transactions, matchmaking, and dynamic server creation for the video game matches.

Tech Used: Python, Flask, Postgres, Heroku, SourcePawn, etc.

StompzCraft

What started out as a passion for Minecraft turned into a full-fledged business with over 1,000,000 unique players.

  • I started this server around the age of 13 and it exploded into a giant community of gamers.
  • This taught me a ton about business and computers. Ranging from SEO, managing multiple bare metal dedicated servers, hiring programmers, etc.
  • Served as my full-time job for many years.

Website For Surfboard Reviews

This is still a WIP, but it aims to be a website for reviews of surfboards. There is an extreme lack of information about how to find the right surfboard for you despite the fact that most boards cost $800+.

Tech Used: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Express, TypeORM, Postgres, Vercel, etc.
